Clean Energy Financing Solutions for Project Sponsors
Clean Energy Financing Solutions
Klean Capital provides clean energy financing solutions for sponsors developing waste-to-energy, energy-from-waste, resource recovery, wind and solar assets. Klean Capital Inc. is wholly owned by Klean Industries, and every structure we propose is tested against how the underlying plant is actually built and operated.
What a Financing Solution Looks Like
There is no standard facility. Private equity, debt, mezzanine and PPP funding are combined case by case, weighted to the risk the project genuinely carries rather than to a template. A municipal waste contract with a long-dated gate fee supports a different debt quantum than a merchant power project in a volatile tariff market. We size the structure to the certainty of the revenue, the maturity of the technology and the strength of the jurisdiction, then identify which tranche each investor class should hold.
Investment Grade Bonds and Institutional Capital
Where a project's contracts, sponsor covenant and construction package support it, Klean Capital arranges Private Placement Investment Grade Bonds placed with institutional investors. This route suits larger infrastructure-scale assets with predictable contracted cash flows and a credible EPC wrap. Projects that do not yet meet that threshold are usually better served by a joint venture, where Klean funds alongside the developer and shares both the development risk and the upside.
Operational Assets and Succession Plans
Not every mandate is a greenfield build. Klean Capital purchases existing operational cleantech and waste-conversion projects through succession plans, which gives retiring owners and exiting shareholders a route to liquidity without shutting a working facility. For the asset, continuity of operation matters more than the identity of the owner, and Klean is positioned to keep a plant running where a purely financial buyer would not.
Diligence You Will Be Held To
Sponsors should expect real technical scrutiny. Feasibility studies, plant design and engineering review, due diligence and energy and waste audits sit behind the funding decision, and turn-key EPC (DBC) delivery is available where a sponsor needs the plant built as well as financed. Since 1998 Klean Capital has raised funding for over a hundred different transactions, and the pattern is consistent: projects that survive engineering diligence close, and those that cannot are told early.
Starting a Mandate
Bring the project type, the capital requirement, the development stage and the location. From that we can tell you quickly whether the transaction is financeable, which instruments fit, and what evidence will be required next.
